We had shown the strength of unity when we had fought against British. We again got together when Anna sat on fast against corruption. But, since then, politicians have gradually tried to create a feeling amongst us that nothing can change in India and whatever these elected few decide, will be final. Which means our dreams of a welcome change in our social structure will never be fulfilled. But, do we understand, what is the power of these corrupt politicians who shamelessly rebuke everyone who stands to raise his voice against them? Their real power is us: we who are ready to scream and hurt ourselves daily on seeing corruption at every corner we go but we are not ready to stand firm on our belief that if 80% of our country (which is forced to be corrupt because of the system), we decide that we will not let this injustice go on. We will change it. If this can happen elsewhere in the world, it can happen in India too.
Let us understand that these politicians are very shrewd people who have been looting us since 60 years without the innocent people even realizing that they are being cheated and looted. They know how to fool people.
Whenever someone raises his voice to lead a revolution, they use all their might (money, media, CBI, investigation agencies, police) to malign that person/group's image and we, like children, are quick to believe their propaganda and leave our leaders alone as if they were doing something for themselves.
Through this blog, I would like to ask a simple question to you:
Who is better, one who is propagating corruption, who is making laws and bending them to make sure that the society remains corrupt and they keep making millions at will
OR
someone who might have been forced by the system to give some bribe or be a part of some other form of corruption, largely, who has done good for the society and whose motive is to bring the welcome change in the society.
I would say most of us will also find the second person similar as ourselves. And in my opinion, we all would like to contribute for the betterment of the society which means we are basically good but forced by system to err at few points. If we think we are good and its the system which has corrupted us at places, we should believe that our leaders (Read as Annaji, Ramdevji, Arvind Kejriwal Ji, Kiran Bedi Ji, Balkrishna ji) are also good and even if the people in power try to malign their image, we should stand by them and not let this movement die. Let's fight for our cause as if this is the last chance. Do not get bogged down by the tactics of these politicians and take whatever steps you can take to make sure we achieve our goal..
Jai Hind..
Please do give your comments regarding what can be done to contribute to the cause of shaping our society as we want it to be. In my next blog I will try to come up with the action items.
Hi ,
ReplyDeleteI lost you when your article reached " If we think we are good and its the system which has corrupted us at places, we should believe th...." if this is so then whom we have to protect/protest ourselves?. I agree with your point in the blog. We are the starting point for corruption. The ideal direction for this movement should move (in my view) is take the practical case to case handling of corruption. Eg, passport, Driving license, Traffic. In every case there is an element of "We" and what "We" can do. Can I say no to a bribe when getting passport ? If so what I should be prepared to face. May be when you discuss one by one you get more clarity of what is the realistic way to take this by "We" as citizens
